Shifter

Shifters are mutant humans (or a variation thereof) with the supernatural ability to shapeshift into other forms. The shifter gene has a very small chance to be passed down, so entire families of shifters are quite rare. Most shifters prefer to live among society as normal people and rarely use their talents. Indeed, few shifters ever master their shapeshifting abilities and many don’t even know they possess the talent to shift at all. Those that do, however, are careful to hide their talents for few will trust a person who can change their appearance virtually at will!

Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom score increases by 2 and your Dexterity score increases by 1.

Age. Shifters mature at the same rate as humans but have a 20% longer lifespan.

Alignment. Varies with each individual, as is the case for all species.

Size. Same as human. Your size is Medium.

Darkvision. You have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern colour in darkness, only shades of gray.

Keen Senses. You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Shifting. As a bonus action, you can assume the appearance of another humanoid or a beast of small or medium size that you have spent 10 minutes studying. You may transform back into your true form as a bonus action. You assume the features, senses and movement of the new form, but your stats remain the same. Any items, armour or equipment that are on your person do not change with you. Depending on your new form, any clothing you may be wearing may be damaged or even destroyed during the change.
